“It’s also a great bi-partisan issue,” Schock said – something all too rare nowadays. “It’s a win for the franchise, a win for the veterans who are returning and a win for our country.”
Since June 2009, the bill has also picked up the support of the International Franchise Association and national veterans groups. He hopes the bill will come up for a hearing soon in Congress.
Although Schock is not a veteran, he recently showed his support for the troops by visiting Kandahar, Afghanistan, to see first-hand where the surge may have an impact. Now he is hopeful that the Help Veterans Own Franchises Act will create a surge in veterans’ business ownership, and jobs in general, in this country.
